An audit of key system tables helps verify that setup logic aligns with 2018 financial standards, guidelines and updates. Many FQHCs update their coding, fees and UDS organizational policies in the first quarter of a new year. As financial updates are evaluated, there are a few system related changes that should also be considered. Updates made to service fees and poverty guidelines that are not tested before deploying, could impact financial goals. Appropriate system setup and testing will insure that patient data and balances align with your organizational policies and minimize gaps in your accounts receivable. We recommend reviewing the following tables semiannually, and as updates are made:
- Fee Scheduling – Automates insurance write offs, auto transfers balances, inhibits claim activity, and adds claim data.
- Rule Action Engine – Automates uninsured discounts for sliding fee scale and service programs.
- Household Assessment Table – Updates federal poverty guidelines, defines household assessment guidelines, and places patient encounters in appropriate levels.
